Taking your puppy home

Light of The Oaks Kennels

Congratulations! You’ve found the puppy for you and now it’s time to take them home.  So what’s next….

As you will already know our dogs are raised with our children and busy our lifestyle so they are used to yard and household noises.  They’ve had plenty of playtime in the house to climatise well with the indoor heat.  Any toy suitable for their age would be great for them and if you were to start at looking to give some chews we can highly recommend anything natural such as rabbit ears or tripe chews, they work well the gut and no additional additives.

Food

Until they leave us our puppies have constant access to food…. I appreciate this may not always be the best option, but we are sure you can get them into an eating routine once they’re home & settled. We feed Royal Canin Puppy Maxi, you don’t need to soak it, they can have it dry.

Vacinations

Their vaccination details & worming details are on your puppy ID card & vet card. They have had her 1st & 2nd vaccines on the dates given. They are therefore fully vaccinated when you come and get them and can safely go on their first public walk two weeks after getting home. NB: Some vets advice differently. Their next vaccine won’t be due until 12 months after then annually.

Before going off to their new home our dogs have been wormed every two weeks from the age of 2 weeks old with drontal and given prinovox on the date given, this covers ticks, fleas & worms and lasts 4 weeks.  We will let you know when the next treament will be due before you head home.

Health

We work hard to aim that we and our darling girls produce the highest standard of puppies…. We carefully select a stud dog and our girls are in top condition before we even consider them having babies.

Responsible and safe exercise and a good diet are important. Avoid letting them jump up and down the sofa / avoid too many stairs & steps, getting plenty of rugs avoiding her slipping on any indoor hard surfaces you may have.

We activate your 4 weeks free insurance with coverage from the day you collect. We recommend you insure them with an insurance of your choice to continue at the end of your current insurance and we trust that any insurance you choose will have adequate coverage should they require any care.

If for any reason at all you feel you cannot take care of your puppy, then they are to be returned to us and NOT resold without our knowledge. If within 14 days they need to come back then a full refund will be given, Any time after this the refund will be discussed accordingly.

We will always be here for ANY support, questions that you may have, and we would love to stay in touch with you guys and your puppy…….

All we ask is for is that you to take good care of them and love them endlessly……
